Mentoring Programs

Early Childhood Mentoring- Supporting New Teachers and Family Child Care Providers. Offers experienced early care and education professionals an opportunity to share their skills with others, grow in the profession, and receive improved compensation.

Tiered Reimbursement Rates

Kentucky pays higher reimbursement rates to child care centers and family child care programs that are accredited by National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), National School-age Care Alliance (NSACA) and National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC).


Milestone Achievement Award An award of $100 given to individuals who complete the Commonwealth Child Care Credential (a credential received after completing an additional 60 hours of early care and education training.) $250 is given upon completing of the CDA credential. $300 for Associates Degrees and Director’s Credential. $500 for Bachelor’s Degree.

Other Resources

“Kids Now” A bill passed in 2000 in an effort to create and maintain quality child care. The law emphasizes professional development by establishing work groups to identify methods of raising child care teacher and provider wages, either through stipends or one-time bonuses, and increasing levels of education through scholarships
